Your questions, answered. Understand the science and soul behind this gentle therapy.
During a session, you'll lie comfortably and fully clothed on a treatment table. Using a very light touch—often no heavier than the weight of a coin—the therapist will place their hands on various parts of your body to listen to the subtle rhythms of your craniosacral system. The goal is to release restrictions and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, allowing your body to self-correct and heal. It is a deeply relaxing and non-invasive experience.
Dr. William Sutherland
Yes. CST was developed by osteopathic physician Dr. William Garner Sutherland in the early 1900s. His extensive research into the anatomy of the skull led him to discover the subtle, rhythmic movement of the cranial bones, which he called the 'Breath of Life'. Modern research, led by figures like Dr. John Upledger, has further validated these principles. The therapy is grounded in anatomy, physiology, and the understanding of the body's interconnected systems.
The number of sessions varies greatly depending on the individual and the condition being addressed. Some people experience significant relief after just one or two sessions, while those with chronic or complex conditions may benefit from a longer series of treatments. We will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you after your initial consultation.
